What Do You Taste? A Game for Picky Palates…

Great info for picky Teeny Tasters!

Small Potatoes

“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”  ~J.R.R. Tolkien

I know our mums taught us not to play with our food. But where’s the fun in that advice? If we want to have our kids enjoy eating, we should let them do what they like best in the day…to play! Children learn by playing. So what better way to learn to like different foods, than to make a game of it?

Tasting new foods is a risky business for the fussy eater. Even the sight of something unexpected may start that jaw clenching shut. That’s why THIS game has a blindfold. If they can’t see it, they can’t make a snap judgement without tasting it. Tricksy, I know…but it worked! The kids in my home were begging to play this game again and again. I had meant…

Our First Client Review!

Nothing makes me happier than hearing how clients use our products.  Check out Murphy’s review of his first meal using Pure Mountain!

Thanks for the amazing goodies.  I just made pasta with the basil olive oil, garlic, Spanish albarino (wine) and parmesan – and spinach, celery root, avocado and walnut sald with a vinaigrette made with the French mix salt – with some albarino to drink of course. It was all spectacular (and child friendly).

Pure Mountain Breakfast Ideas

Fast Foodie Friendly Fare Using Pure Mountain

Goat cheese and baby spinach on an italian baguette drizzled with Pure Mountain Blackberry Dark Balsamic and fresh blackberries.

If you’re a parent, you know how long you are on self-sacrifice and how short you are on time. How many times have you filled yourself with your kid’s leftovers or eaten the same boring quick-snacks. (Mine was carrot pieces dipped in hummus YAWN!!) For most of us, the quality of the food we eat feels like direct reflection of the quality of our overall lifestyle.

Why not try this.

Next time you’re shopping buy the following easy, grown-up food:

A nice big long semolina, Italian or French baguette. (You can always freeze half until next week!)

Some soft cheese like goat, brie or mozzarella.

Any kind of berry.

A package of pre-washed baby spinach.

Now: Spread the cheese on a couple of pieces of the bread, lay a few pieces of baby spinach on top and drizzle with PURE MOUNTAIN Blackberry Dark Balsamic with a few berries on the side to pick-up some of the sweetness in the balsamic.

If it’s Happy Hour in your house it pairs beautifully with a cold glass of Italian white wine. You will feel spoiled and satisfied in less than five minutes. Also makes a great appetizer!

Please contact me if you’d like to host a tasting party or private pairing session and discover how PURE MOUNTAIN can change the quality of your cooking lifestyle.

Rebecca’s Pure Mountain Olive Oil Party Menu

Here’s a sampling of the oils and balsamics we will be using for this special tasting for my friend Rebecca.  We will be pairing these with some wonderful toasted baguettes from Arthur Avenue, cheeses from Fairway Market, spinach and fruit from the farmers market and sipping on some clean Italian whites recommended by our friends at Rochambeau Wines in Dobbs Ferry, NY.

Blackberry Dark Balsamic

The clear, crisp flavor and aroma of blackberry floating through this exquisite aged balsamic vinegar is definitely a treat for the senses. Pair it with other berries, pork, game meat, mushrooms and fresh cheeses.

Fig Balsamic

A fabulous introduction to the world of premium flavored balsamics. The nutty, semi-sweet flavor of fresh fig enhances and deepens this naturally intense balsamic vinegar. Outstanding as a marinade or for salad dressings.

Lemon White Balsamic

This favorite features a wonderful citrusy essence that will keep you wanting more! Great finish to vegetables, salads or as a bread dip. An excellent marinade for white fish and it pairs wonderfully with our basil olive oil

Basil Olive Oil

Basil is one of the most popular infused oils, and with good reason.  We take fresh basil and infuse it right into the olive oil pressing process.  Combining these two essential Italian ingredients creates this versatile and delicious product.

Keep the essence of fresh basil is at your fingertips for use on tomatoes, cheese, pasta, pizza, chicken and vegetables.

Pairs wonderfully with our lemon white balsamic

Mushroom Garlic Olive Oil

These versatile and complimentary flavors make for a great olive oil.  Drizzle on just about any Italian dish or dip in bread for an amazing dining experience.

Signature Spanish Blend Olive Oil

Some oils are made from single fruit, while other, more complex oils are made from several types of olives. We’ve selected three varieties; Arbequina, Picual, and Hojiblanca, to marry the unique flavor profiles and properties culminating into a truly beautiful olive oil.
